Privacy
1. The short version
The KeyPip app collects nothing. It has no accounts, no adverts, no analytics, no third-party code that phones home, and it opens no network connection of any kind. Everything your child does stays on the device they did it on.
This website is a plain set of pages. Its host keeps ordinary server logs, and if we ever switch on visitor counting you will be asked first and can say no.
2. Who we are
KeyPip is made and published by Tamas Marki, an individual developer based in Sweden. For anything in this policy, including a request about your data, write to . We are the data controller for the small amount of personal data described below.
3. The app
What it stores, and where
KeyPip keeps a few things so a child can pick up where they left off: the name they chose, which language and word packs they play in, their settings, how far along a round is, the stars they have collected and the stickers in their book.
All of it is written to the device's own app storage. It never leaves the device, it is not sent to us, and we cannot see it. Deleting the app deletes it. There is no backup we hold and no server we could restore it from.
The name a child types
A name is optional and can be anything. It is only ever shown on the device that typed it, to make the game feel like it belongs to that child. Nobody outside the device sees it. You can change or clear it in the grown-ups settings.
Speech
When KeyPip says a word out loud, it hands the word to the operating system and the system's own voice says it. Nothing is recorded and no microphone is used. KeyPip requests no microphone, camera, location, contacts, photos or health permission, because it needs none of them.
No third parties
There are no advertising networks, no analytics kits, no crash reporters, no social logins and no software development kits from anybody else inside the app. Apple sees what Apple always sees when you download an app from the App Store, and that relationship is between you and Apple, governed by Apple's own privacy policy.
What the App Store label says
KeyPip's App Store privacy label reads "Data Not Collected", and its privacy manifest declares no tracking, no tracking domains and no collected data types. The only entry in it is the standard declaration that the app writes its own settings to the device.
4. Children
KeyPip is made for young children and is submitted to the App Store's Kids category. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, and that includes children. There is nothing in the app to sign up for, nothing to buy, no way to send a message, no user-generated content, no chat, no links out to the open web from the child's part of the app, and no behavioural advertising anywhere.
Because nothing is collected, there is nothing for a parent to review, correct or ask us to delete. If that ever changes, this page changes with it and a parent's consent will be asked for first. This is how we meet the United States Children's Online Privacy Protection Act and Article 8 of the United Kingdom and European Union General Data Protection Regulation.
The links to this website, to support and to the App Store live behind the grown-ups gate, so a small child playing on their own cannot reach them.
5. This website
Hosting
keypip.com is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like every web host, Cloudflare records ordinary request logs when a page is served: the IP address the request came from, the time, the page, and the browser's user agent string. Cloudflare processes these on our behalf to deliver the site and to keep it up against abuse, and retains them for a short period. We do not use them to build a picture of you and we do not combine them with anything else. Cloudflare's own privacy documentation describes what it does with them.
Counting visits
The site is prepared for Google Analytics but does not have to use it. If analytics is switched off you will see no banner, no analytics script is fetched, no analytics cookie is set, and nothing about your visit goes to Google.
If we switch it on, a banner asks you first. Nothing loads until you say yes. Advertising storage and personalisation stay denied either way, and IP addresses are shortened before they are stored. Saying no is remembered and respected, and you will not be asked again for six months. You can clear the site's storage in your browser at any time to be asked afresh.
Storage in your browser
The site sets no cookies of its own. If you answer the analytics banner, your answer is kept in your browser's local storage so we do not ask again. That entry never leaves your browser.
Fonts and other loads
The page's font is served from keypip.com itself, not from a font network, so no third party is told which pages you read. Nothing on the site is embedded from anywhere else.
6. If you write to us
Mail to an address at keypip.com is forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing to a personal mailbox. We keep your message, your address and our reply for as long as it takes to deal with what you wrote about, and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you write again about the same thing. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not pass your address to anyone.
If you ask us to tell you when the app launches, we keep your address for that one message and delete it afterwards. You can ask us to delete it sooner and we will.
7. Legal bases and your rights
Where the United Kingdom or European Union General Data Protection Regulation applies, our legal bases are: legitimate interest for the server logs that keep the site running and secure, consent for optional analytics, and legitimate interest for answering an email you chose to send us.
You have the right to:
- ask what personal data we hold about you and get a copy of it;
- have it corrected if it is wrong;
- have it deleted;
- object to or restrict how we use it;
- withdraw a consent you gave, at any time, without it costing you anything;
- complain to your data protection authority if you think we have got this wrong. Ours is the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten, imy.se), and you can also go to the authority in the country you live in.
In practice the only personal data we are likely to hold about you is an email you sent us. Write to and we will answer within one month.
We do not sell personal information, we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we have never done either. If you are in California, that is our answer to the notices the CCPA asks for.
8. Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and anything that affects what happens to your data will be described rather than quietly reworded. The current version always lives at keypip.com/privacy.
